As technology continues to evolve, so too do the means and avenues for conducting international trade.  In an effort to catch the ship before it sails, U.S. Customs & Border Protection has embarked on a new initiative – "The 21st Century Customs Framework" or "21CCF" – intended to recast how CBP conducts business and manages and enforces overall trade. This initiative is in the early stages of development and adoption, and provides the trade community with a unique opportunity to help direct where CBP goes next.  Coupled with more-general changes in CBP's day-to-day practices, this program will review the five pillars of the 21CCF while also discussing what importers, exporters and 3PLs may do to better-position themselves for the road ahead. This is a joint program of the World Trade Center - KC and the Greater KC Foreign Trade Zone.

Speaker: Jeremy Page

Jeremy Page is a founding partner of the Chicago-based international trade law firm, Page•Fura, P.C.  With more than 30 years of experience in import, export and supply chain security, he provides counseling, strategic planning and advocacy to organizations of all sizes in their global compliance needs. Companies turn to Jeremy for representation on a wide range of issues, including the development or enhancement of import/export compliance programs; the evaluation of corporate transfer pricing and valuation schemes; the development of first sale programs; the classification and tariff engineering of products to minimize cost/risk while ensuring reporting compliance; the incorporation and management of foreign-trade zones as part of companies' operational footprint; the application and impact of trade remedies such as Sections 232/301 and anti-dumping/countervailing duties; the role export controls, deemed exports and sanctions/embargo programs play in companies' global sourcing and sales flows; and the engagement in corrective or remedial action through the submission of prior disclosures or representation in enforcement actions/investigations.

Jeremy is a frequent speaker at both trade association and other venues and has performed extensive public and private sector training in such areas as import controls and compliance, export management, NAFTA and foreign-trade zones.  In addition to his legal background, he is also a licensed customs broker and an accredited zones specialist.
