DESCRIPTION:All Centurions actives\, alumni\, and friends are welcome to attend this event. \n\n\n\nBeyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence\, commemorating the 55th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's historic address and call to action against the war's racial and economic inequities. The location will be shared via email. Light refreshments will be provided and all Centurions actives\, alumni\, and friends and welcome to attend this in-person event.\n\n\n\nThe University of Kansas Medical Center Office of Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion hosted this discussion earlier this month in honor of the 55th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "A Time to Break Silence" speech. This landmark speech was the first time Dr. King publicly spoke out against the Vietnam War. The speech attempted to connect domestic racial injustice to American imperial injustice all over the world\; it is one of his most intellectually and morally uncompromising speeches. Our panel discussion will highlight the importance of this address and highlight the areas we need to break the silence against today.\n\n\n\nPanelists include Shawn Alexander\, Ph.D.\, Jason Glenn\, Ph.D.\, Randal Jelks\, Ph.D.\, Nicole Hodges Persley\, Ph.D.\, Sharla Smith\, Ph.D.\, MPH\, and Lynette Sparkman-Barnes\, Psy.D.
