Job Description
The KC Chamber Public Policy Department is seeking a Public Policy Project Manager to coordinate and administer the program of work for the Chamber’s Transportation Big 5 Initiative and manage several other public policy committees and programs for the Chamber. The Project Manager will oversee several volunteer committees and work closely with the program co-chairs to establish project goals and objectives that align with the organization's mission, execute program strategies, perform outreach strategies and coalition building to advance the program of work, and communicate program needs and opportunities to Chamber staff, leadership and general membership. The Project Manager will work to ensure that project milestones/goals are met, and approved budgets are adhered to. Candidates should have exemplary written and verbal communications skills and be a deadline-oriented self-starter with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects toward successful outcomes at the same time.
 
The Project Manager will report to the Department SVP and work collaboratively with the Public Policy team to ensure that department goals are met. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years’ experience managing and executing multidimensional projects in the nonprofit sector, be effective at managing the work of volunteer committees, and enjoy the fast-paced, high impact and high-demand of the public policy realm.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the Big 5 Transportation Initiative Program of Work in order to achieve the approved program goals and objectives related to:
    • Regional transportation funding
    • Developing and administering a multi-partner micro transit program to connect workers from under-resourced communities with key job centers in the metro.
    • Develop and market a regional transportation safety program for businesses to implement within their operations and fleet systems)
    • Management of program steering committee including meeting planning, execution and interface with program co-chairs and Dept. SVP
    • Develop and administer regional partnerships related to project goals and objectives.
    • Chart project achievements, opportunities and challenges
    • Manage work, resources, research, membership participation for the Initiative Taskforces (Regional Transportation Funding Development, Micro Transit Program, Transportation Safety, and Public Policy and Advocacy).

     
  2. Manage the Public Policy Council:
    1. Schedule and promote meetings
    2. Arrange for guest speakers and programs
    3. Market annual PPC membership and manage membership billing and communication

     
  3. Coordinate Chamber Financial Services Committee:
    1. Work with chair to set quarterly meeting agendas
    2. Secure guest speakers
    3. Market meeting programs and oversee registration.

     
  4. Manage the Chamber Ad Hoc Jackson County Policy Committee.
     
  5. Provide coordination and support for special policy programs including:
    1. Leadership Exchange
    2. Policy programs (e.g., bill signings)
    3. Spotlight
    4. DC Fly-In
