Is your nonprofit struggling with millennial engagement? Perhaps you are looking for innovative ideas to enhance your marketing and social media strategies?

The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance is offering Kansas City nonprofit organizations free consulting services from a group of trained and invested young professionals from around the country. These college students, pursuing the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential, have completed undergraduate or graduate level nonprofit coursework, held leadership roles on their campuses and in communities, and have over 300 hours of experience working with nonprofits.

The students will be in downtown Kansas City, January 3-5, 2018 for an annual conference, the Alliance Management Institute (AMI), hosted by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. The final day of the conference, Friday, January 5, 2018, is AMI Consulting Day, when the 500 student attendees will serve as consulting teams of 10-15 to develop organization action plans. Consulting services take place at the organization (or at an alternate location).

Please review the AMI Consulting Day Host Site webpage for more details and sample application materials. Example topics for the consulting teams include:
  • Diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Volunteer recruitment and engagement
  • Millennial engagement
  • Marketing to build awareness and recognition
  • Increasing organization efficiency and effectiveness
What Your Organization Will Receive
After a thorough analysis of the issue and taking into consideration the resources and unique operating environment of your organization, the consulting team will develop a comprehensive action plan. The plans will be presented to your leadership team at 3:30 p.m. on January 5, 2018.

Why Apply?
Host sites receive access to innovation and creativity of specially-trained young professionals. Past action plans have kick-started new initiatives and revamped current programs of participating nonprofits. Past host sites praise the work of the consulting teams. For example, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Houston said:

“I was so impressed by the outcomes of this case study. I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the ideas, the knowledge of the students, and their ability to grasp some complex issues and limitations in such a short amount of time. What a great experience for our agency. We are excited to start implementing some of the ideas, and look forward to seeing the lasting effects of some of the incredible ideas that were presented to us.”
