This year, we can’t wait to unveil GREATER KC – a celebration of our city, our home - coming together above the state line.
You won’t want to miss the highlight of the evening when we announce the 2019 Kansas Citian of the Year! Past recipients include Kay Barnes, Robert Regnier, Tom Watson, James and Virginia Stowers, Thomas McDonnell, Shirley and Barnett Helzberg, The Rev. Emanuel Cleaver, R. Crosby Kemper, Jr., Donald and Adele Hall, James B. Nutter Sr., Phil Kirk, Greg Graves, and Leo Morton. Learn more about past Kansas Citian of the Year recipients here.
We will also be celebrating a successful year with our outgoing Chair Gordon Lansford, III, JE Dunn Construction Company and looking forward to what's next from our incoming Chair Carolyn Watley, CBIZ/MHM.
We are excited to announce that this year’s keynote presenter, Rob Riggle - actor, comedian, and proud Kansas Citian – is back by popular demand.
Rob Riggle has been a staple in comedic films and television for more than 15 years. He is known for his memorable characters in comedy hits like The Hangover and Step Brothers, as well as his stints on Saturday Night Live and as a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. His most recent projects include his own television show, Rob Riggle: Global Investigator, and ABC’s new extreme min-golf series Holey Moley, produced by NBA All-Star Stephen Curry.
As he broke into comedy, Rob was still on active duty with the United States Marine Corps, which he initially joined at the age of 19. Lieutenant Colonel Riggle retired from the Marine Corps Reserve, having served 23 years total (nine years active duty, 14 years in the reserves) and earned more than 22 medals and ribbons, including the Combat Action Ribbon.
Raised in Overland Park, Kansas, Rob attended Shawnee Mission South High School, and graduated from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in Theater & Film. He later received a Master’s in Public Administration from Webster University.
