Join us for a powerful and insightful journey through the history of residential segregation in Kansas City during our Redline Bus Tour, based on the acclaimed audio guide, Dividing Lines. This tour, narrated by ethnographer and host of the “Wide Ruled” podcast, Nathaniel Bozarth, will provide a deep dive into the far-reaching impacts of segregation, primarily through its effects on real estate across the Kansas City metro area.
Itinerary:
-Networking Lunch (11:30 AM): Kick off the event by connecting with fellow attendees over lunch at The Hope Center.
-Bus Tour (12:30 PM - 3:00 PM): The tour departs from Ivanhoe Neighborhood Council, paired with the 'Dividing Lines' audio guide. Experience firsthand stories and interviews with city figures, such as Sid Willens, Bill Tammeus, Mamie Hughes, and Margaret May, narrated by Nathaniel Bozarth.
-Cheers to Change Mixer (Post-Tour): Following the tour, join us for an optional mixer at J. Rieger to reflect on the experience and continue the conversation over drinks.
