Event Description:

Before COVID-19 disrupted our lives, employers were facing a looming problem that isn’t going away even after the pandemic - a shortage of qualified workers. But there’s an underutilized talent pool that benefits your bottom line and lifts entire communities: returning citizens. The Kansas Department of Corrections is working with business leaders, educators, nonprofits and other organizations from across the State of Kansas to create a Career Campus at Lansing Correctional Facility (LCF) to help train these future members of the workforce and help them graduate with stackable credentials in high demand industries to successfully transition to life after incarceration. Join us January 11, 2021 from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. and learn how the Career Campus at LCF will be good for the business community, will grow the pipeline of qualified workers, and will improve outcomes for justice involved individuals. Jeff Korzenik, Chief Investment Strategist of Fifth Third Bank, will also join us to talk about the overall benefit of second chance hiring and how it changes lives for formerly incarcerated people spurs innovations in communities.
