Feast of the Seven Fishes at Jax Fish House
Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar invites guests to “taste the SEAson” with its Feast of the Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. This age-old, traditional Italian-American feast will feature seven-plus types of jet-fresh, sustainably sourced seafood in five delicious courses, all served family style. There will also be curated red, white, and Italian wines available for additional purchase.
Also known as The Vigil, or Cena Della Vigilia, the Feast of the Seven Fishes is an Italian-American tradition that originated in Southern Italy. For centuries, Roman Catholics have abstained from eating meat on the eve of certain holidays, and thus celebrate Christmas Eve with a variety of seafood dishes. These vary from region to region and from family to family, and for Christmas Eve we will prepare some of our all-time favorites at Jax.
First course - Fried octopus / jerusalem artichoke cream / taramasalata
Second course - Lobster and bisque / saffron potatoes / romanesco
Third Course - Crab Pansotti / Salsa di Noci
Fourth Course - Whole-Roasted Spanish Mackerel / Olive Relish / Tagliolini
Fifth Course - Torta Della Nonna
