Name: Rite of Joy - Reclaiming the Sun for Melanated People
Date: October 13, 2022 - October 15, 2022
Event Description:

Rite of Joy is a Poetry for Personal Power Mental Health and Arts Wellness conference centered around Black and African American people and their experiences.

Poetry for Personal Power is a nationally recognized expert in trauma. We are an artist-led non-profit that empowers artists and advocates through resiliency messaging, influencer open mics, peer support and behavioral health referrals, grant writing assistance, and more! We are thrilled to announce that we are hosting Rite of Joy - the only Black/African American centric, peer-run mental wellness conference in the nation. Last year was our first iteration; small but transformative. We hosted speakers from across the nation, local vendors, and community leaders in the name of Black mental wellness. This year, we have expanded our capacity and would like to invite mental health professionals, consumers, and advocates to attend.

While Poetry for Personal Power provides year-round services to all communities regardless of aesthetic or circumstance, Rite of Joy is a conference that is specifically geared toward leaders, artists, and allies of the Black community, the gay/lesbian community, the transgender community, those in recovery from substance use disorders, survivors of gender-based trauma, and those looking to educate or learn more about these topics.
