(Kansas City, MO.) – Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Kansas City Homes has exceeded their goal of $30,000 to build a second tiny-home for the Veteran’s Community Project (VCP). All eight area BHGRE Kansas City Homes offices including the College Blvd, Prairie Village/State Line, Blue Valley, Leawood, Plaza/Kansas City, Liberty, Northland and Lee’s Summit real estate offices created unique fundraisers to reach the $30,000 goal such as a 50/50 raffle, duck races on a lake outside the Mission Farms office, a Chili Cookoff between two offices and more.

To date, VCP has built 10 tiny-homes and veterans will start moving in early 2018.

“I am extremely proud of our agents for going above and beyond to reach this monetary goal to build a second tiny home for the Veterans Community Project,” remarked David Cooper, president of BHGRE Kansas City Homes. “VCP is committed to ending the plight of homeless veterans and helping them transition successfully back into society. This is just the beginning of a long term partnership with VCP to help make sure their dream becomes a reality for our veterans who have served this country.”

BHGRE Kansas City Homes contribution is helping support VCP goal to create a community of 50 tiny-homes that offer onsite services to provide housing stability and address underlying causes of Veteran’s homelessness. The 240-square foot tiny-homes provide Veterans with privacy, a sense of security, and the ability to reintegrate at a comfortable pace. Services are administered through an onsite community center that provides mentoring, case management, counseling, computer literacy courses, a food pantry and a linkage to other programs and services.

“We are extremely fortunate to have BHGRE Kansas City Homes as a community partner to help us build another tiny home for homeless veterans,” stated Brandonn Mixon, director of facilities for Veterans Community Project. “The agents have gone full-throttle on their fundraising efforts and it’s a gift. Together, we will help eradicate veteran homelessness by taking the oath of serving those who served us.”

At the beginning of their fund drive, over 70 BHGRE Kansas City Homes real estate agents toured the Veteran’s Community Project property and facility at 1201 E. 89th St in Kansas City to understand the mission first hand. The goal is to eliminate Veteran homelessness by providing transitional-housing and enabling access to exceptional 360-degree service solutions. The Project will be a blueprint for achieving similar successes throughout the United States.
