The Builders’ Association Honors Contractors for Safety Excellence

Kansas City, Missouri – Contractor members of The Builders’ Association were honored at The Builders’ Association Safety Excellence Awards Breakfast for their commitment to making the construction workplace safer for all employees in 2017. The event was held on March 15, 2018, and was sponsored by The Builders’ Association, Missouri Division of Labor Standards, Kansas Department of Labor, OSHA Kansas City Area Office, and OSHA Region VII Office.

Held at Adams Pointe Conference Center in Blue Springs, Missouri, this year’s Safety Excellence Awards Breakfast kicked off the 9th Annual Midwest Construction Safety Conference (MCSC). The MCSC featured keynote addresses by Richard McElhaney, CSP, and David James, CPA, Chief Financial Officer, FNF Construction, Inc.
 
The MCSC, which included a Safety Exposition and informative breakout sessions led by top safety professionals, concluded on March 16. The next MCSC will be held at Adams Pointe Conference Center, March 7-8, 2019.
 
The Builders’ Association represents approximately 750 general contractor, subcontractor, supplier, and service provider member companies employing about 25,000 people. The Association delivers safety training to over 4,000 employees annually.
 
With over 130 years of service to the commercial construction industry, our members in aggregate self-perform volume estimated to exceed $3.5 billion annually. Services are delivered through centers in Kansas City, Jefferson City and Springfield, as well as our 100,000 square foot Training Center in North Kansas City. Shawn Burnum, Division Manager, PCI (Performance Contracting Inc.), is this year’s Chairman of The Builders’ Association. Don Greenwell serves as President and Phil Shoemaker as Safety, Health & Environmental Services Director of the Association, which was established in 1887.
